Carlynn Savot
Cellist Carlynn Savot holds a Master's Degree in performance and Suzuki pedagogy from the University of Hartford and a Bachelor's Degree in performance from St. Olaf College. At Hartt, she won the Miami String Quartet Competition, performed at Best of Chamber Music recitals, and was principal cellist of the Hartt Symphony and Opera Orchestras. She served for three years as principal cellist of the St. Olaf Orchestra and acted as orchestra president her senior year. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in performance at the University of Connecticut, where she studies with Dr. Kangho Lee. A native of South Dakota, she returns frequently as a faculty member of the Black Hills String Retreat and performer with the Black Hills Symphony. Strongly committed to encouraging the next generation of performers, Ms. Savot teaches at The Hartt School Community Division and the Community School of the Arts at The University of Connecticut. She maintains private lesson studios at each school in addition to coaching chamber music and conducting a student orchestra.
